To be true, I’ve never heard an audiobook before. Perhaps, this is the best definition to The Cold Embrace of Fear. Or one could call it a movie without images, a sensorial movie for the philosophers. This is an EP in 7 acts, and as far I can remember, there’re only 1 or 2 real songs in it. The other “acts” is all about some sort of a medieval story (typical when we talk about Rhapsody of Fire). Anyway, I didn’t pay attention to the narrative and dialogues, and in addition, I never had all the feeling required to understand the message (if there’s one). For me, this is like those Dungeons & Dragons tales, except the fact there’s one great song within the story.
As regards to the song, it is really nice. It’s the Act III: The Ancient Fire of Har-Kuun. We can notice all classic elements which is classic to the band. Certainly the fans would be interested. For those who doesn’t enjoy that much, or is really bored to the same cheesy medieval-fantasy stuff from the band, I have to say it will not aggregate anything new. However, we can’t deny Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli’s great virtuosity, which once again is the main highlight in this album, as usual. It’s worth mentioning Act VI. I dare anyone to say this doesn’t sounds like Manowar. In fact, I believe Eric Adams would do a better performance on this track than Fabio Lione.
I used to be a Rhapsody fan since Legendary Tales. But when they added “Of Fire” on their name, I got outdated since that time. Actually, it became a little tiring to hear all the same things along the years, I dunno… Anyway, in my opinion the purpose of a music album is to hear songs, not stories. I wander if there is anyone who think Warriors Prayer is Manowar’s best song?!?! Bottom line: good artistic work, a Broadway-Roman play, but speaking of music, It owes a lot.

Pra falar a verdade, nunca tinha ouvido um Audiobook, ou cdbook antes na minha vida. Talvez esta seja minha melhor definição para The Cold Embrace of Fear. Ou poderia ser um filme sem imagens. Na verdade trata-se de um EP divido em 7 atos, sendo que na prática, de todas essas faixas, me lembro de ter ouvido apenas 1 ou 2 músicas. O restante trata-se de uma narrativa e diálogo de uma história medieval. Parece que esta história já começou bem lá atrás, em um dos outros álbuns da banda. Enfim, confesso que não prestei muita atenção na historinha e digo mais, não tenho toda a sensibilidade pra entender o significado que a banda tentou transmitir com esta história. Pra mim, trata-se de uma história medieval do tipo Caverna do Dragão, e no meio desta história tem uma música boa.
Quanto à música: é realmente boa. Trata-se do 3º Ato: The Ancient Fire of Har-Kuun. Podemos notar os elementos clássicos que caracterizam a banda. Para os fãs certamente será interessante. Para quem já não curte muito, ou se enjoou da mesmice medieval-fantasiosa da banda, talvez não se impressione. No entanto, é inquestionável a virtuose de Luca Turilli e Alex Staropoli que por sua vez mais uma vez se destaca como em todos os trabalhos da banda. Menção honrosa ao Ato 6: Esta sim é uma faixa que com certeza vc pensará “Já ouvi isso de algum lugar...” Quero ver alguém negar que não é parecido com Manowar!!! Acho até que Eric Adams faria uma performance melhor nesta faixa do que Fabio Lione (somente nesta faixa).
Talvez eu esteja meio ultrapassado, já fui um fã da banda até a época que eles acrescentaram o “Of Fire”. Depois disso, confesso que não me interessei pelos trabalhos da banda. Na minha opinião, um disco de música continua servindo pra ouvir música, em vez de histórias. Enfim, sei que existem pessoas que devem achar Warriors Prayer a melhor música do Manowar, por exemplo, hehehe, mas gosto é gosto... Resumindo: um bom trabalho artístico, porém do ponto de vista musical não agrega muita coisa.
