Review - Almah: Motion

Belíssimo lançamento de 2011. Assim como os trabalhos anteriores do Almah, Motion é mais um belo trabalho que agrega sonoridade e musicalidade inovadora para o heavy metal. Aliando melodia, virtuosismo e muito peso, Motion revela um amadurecimento notável na banda. Aparentemente despreocupados em se prender a uma determinada vertente heavy metal, em seguir a mesma fórmula Power Metal de sempre, o Almah assume o risco em simplesmente fazer boa música. E funcionou!

O álbum é simplesmente espetacular. Um misto de peso, agressividade e melodias.  Muito interessante ouvir Edu mandando guturais em “Zombies Dictator”, ou toda a versatilidade e alcance vocal em “Trace of Trait”, por exemplo. Fantástico trabalho dos integrantes da banda, guitarras, bateria e o sensacional baixo de Felipe Andreoli.

Vamos à avaliação do álbum, com comentários:

1. Hypnotized: Refrão marcante que martela na cabeça por um bom tempo. Gostei do riff, apesar de achar que enjoa rápido. Nota 8.
2. Living And Drifting: Sensacional! Sem comentários, a música é fantástica do começo ao fim. Nota 10.
3. Days Of The New: Boa melodia, cadenciada, belo trabalho nas guitarras. Nota 9.
4. Bullets On The Altar: Gostei bastante desta baladinha, mas pra mim ela serve de um preparatório pras músicas que estão por vir... Nota 8.
5. Zombies Dictator: Muito boa! Pesada, nervosíssima! Edu mandando um guturais, mto bom! Riffs complexos, baixo marcado com guitarra, muito legal! Nota 10.
6. Trace Of Trait: Nem sei o que dizer a respeito desta faixa. Nota 10. E a variação vocal nesta música???!? Destaque ainda para as transições rápidas guitarra, baixo, batera. Nota 10.
7. Soul Alight: Acredito que esta música seja um dos exemplos da maturidade musical do Almah. Peso, agressividade, e calmaria em sequência.Boa variação sonora. Nota 9.
8. Late Night In ’85: Por algum motivo, esta música me lembra Stone Temple Pilots. Ou uma trilha sonora de filme, não sei dizer. Algo sinestésico, uma mistura de sensações. Nota 10!
9. Daydream Lucidity:  Outra faixa sensacional! A virtuose e peso das guitarras, sobretudo do baixo de Felipe Andreoli são os grandes destaques. A pegada é bem prog metal, pesada, fantástica! Estava dirigindo de madrugada com o som no máximo, que som! O disco poderia terminar aqui que já estava de bom tamanho. Nota 10.
10. When And Why: Mas pra finalizar com chave de ouro, tem esta ótima balada acústica. Edu cantando com muita naturalidade, belíssima canção. Nota 10.

Independentemente do momento profissional de Edu Falaschi, que parece ser um pouco conturbado diante tantas notícias e rumores veiculados ultimamente (de fato, a apresentação no Rock In Rio deixou a desejar, e muito), é inegável seu talento. Motion é mais uma prova disso (na verdade, ele não precisa provar nada, o trabalho fala por si só).

Diferentemente dos xiitas que insistem em comparar artistas e bandas, deixo registrado todo meu apoio para o ótimo Edu Falaschi e, não menos, ALMAH. O heavy metal precisa de trabalhos como Motion. Parabéns pelo ótimo álbum! Nota 10!

Great release from this year. As well as Almah’s previous albums, Motion is another beautiful work, adding innovating musicality to heavy metal gender. This album reveals a notorious evolution, a more mature aspect from the band, binding virtuosism, heaviness and melody all together. They seem to be a little reckless as regards following the well-known power metal formula. The band simply took the risk to concentrate efforts to make good music. And it worked!

Motion is spectacular. A mix of aggressiveness and melodies. To see Edu Falaschi (vocals) doing  gutturals on “Zombies Dictactor” is very interesting, as well all the versatility and vocal range on “Trace of Trait”, for instance. Fantastic job by the musicians, highlight for the guitars, drums and sensational bass work.

Here is the album valuation, with some comments:

1. Hypnotized: The chorus keeps hitting your head for a while… Anyway, I enjoyed the main riff, although I feel this song would bore me real quick. Score 8.
2. Living And Drifting: Terrific! No comments, fantastic from the beginning to the end. Score 10.
3. Days Of The New: Good melody, rhythmic, beautiful guitar job. Score 9.
4. Bullets On The Altar: Kinda like this ballad, bur for me, this is Just a warming for what’s next to come... Socre 8.
5. Zombies Dictator: Great! heavy, really nervous song! Edu’s doing gutturals! Nice! Complex riffs, bass & guitar synchronized, very cool! Score 10.
6. Trace Of Trait: Dunno what to say... Score 10. What to say ‘bout the vocal varitions here? Yet, highlight for the very fast guitar, bass and drums variations. Score 10.
7. Soul Alight: This is one example of the band’s maturuty regarding musicianship. Heaviness, aggressiveness and traquility in a row. Score 9.
8. Late Night In ’85: Somehow, this reminds me Stone Temple Pilots. Or some movietrack, I don’t know. A mix of sensations, synesthetic. Score 10!
9. Daydream Lucidity: Another sensational song! The main highlight are the guitar’s heaviness and virtuose, mostly Felipe Andreoli’s bass. Very prog metal, heavy, fantastic! I was driving at night, with the sound as loud as hell, while listening to it. What a sound!The álbum could end here that would be enough. Score 10.
10. When And Why: But, finishing with honors, there is this great acoustic ballad. Edu is singing naturally, awesome song. Score 10.

Despite the Edu Falaschi’s professional momentum, that seems to be a little troubled with several news and rumors lately (indeed, Rock in Rio concert was unsatisfying, a lot), his talent is undeniable. Motion is a proof of it (in fact, he doesn’t need to proof anything, his work speaks for itself).

Unlike the Shiite fans that are used to compare bands and artists, here is a testimonial wishing  all support for this great artist Edu Falaschi, and not less ALMAH. Heavy Metal needs albums like Motion. Congrats for this awesome work!
