Maybe this has passed unnoticed for the majority of the crowd but for us Headbangers, it was a day to remember. I wasn´t paying so much attention for this 11-11-11 and I was a little skeptical about Sabbath’s reunion. In fact, since DIO passed away I have only listened to records of Sabbath’s Heaven and Hell formation. And to be honest, TODAY I prefer Sabbath with DIO rather than Ozzy. Now DIO (God bless him) has left the building and we have the original Sabbath back which is also great and exciting. But I have to share some considerations that are dividing my thoughts about it.
Well, being the boring guy that thinks too much, I couldn’t start thinking about what the motivations were despite the money for this reunion. Furthermore, how they are going to manage the gigantic egos? Is it going to be a standardized Ozzy album (which means crap if you get his recent work), a Black Sabbath featuring Tommy Iommi album or a Black Bullshit Society featuring Sharon Osbourne on the pickups? It probably won’t but we can’t deny there is a huge probability that this album could be just the pension fund in times of economic crisis to all involved. I am getting a little skeptical about it because we have massive egos in the plot and they are not those kids from Birmingham anymore that were creating something that would change the world. Money talks for them and for a band like Sabbath, it talks very, very loud… I can’t blame them… everybody wants money.
DIO not only was a myth in Heavy Metal scene in terms of getting along with everybody but had also a humble wisdom of the greats, what made him an excellent person to work with. I personally felt an amazing chemistry during Heaven and Hell concert in Brazil. They really seemed to play without commercial intentions and like a true band. That’s my concern with Ozzy X Iommi and the third participation (Sharon) relationship.
Now, being the positive and huge aficionado, the reunion of the original formation is something truly mythical with an immeasurable benefit for Heavy Metal scene. Just when, in my opinion, we have a serious lack of originality Sabbath comes back to teach their final lesson. Hope that the new album adds something new and original of their same recipe not just commercial songs (oh no, I am being the boring guy again… lol). Man, it will be amazing to listen them alive… it will definitely be carved in our memories forever. They started the whole shit we listen today… everything is Sabbath in metal. Hope Bill Ward has the health necessary to get our heads out of our bodies again. Cheers, let’s drink a beer to celebrate it!
See bellow the amazing video produced to put our anxiety in chaotic levels.
Imagine Sabbath/Big Four gig… ow man…
Stay Sabbath. Hail to heavy crew.
